Differences between PLA resin and ABS resin.

Introducing the differences between PLA resin and ABS resin in a column!

Hottipolymer Co., Ltd., which develops and sells 3D printer filaments, offers a variety of filament materials. For example, we have filaments made from PEEK resin, which has excellent physical and chemical properties. This filament has a very stable dimensional accuracy of 1.75mm ± 0.05 and is environmentally friendly as it complies with REACH and RoHS regulations. Additionally, we offer aroma-type filaments that can be used for aroma goods and miscellaneous items. These filaments enhance sustainability by releasing aromatic components gradually. *For more details, please refer to the related links. Feel free to contact us for more information.*

Basic Knowledge of Plastics: Advantages and Disadvantages of ABS

A material with excellent mechanical properties and impact resistance, featuring a well-balanced set of physical properties! Detailed introduction of its advantages and more.

We will introduce the advantages and disadvantages of "ABS" as basic knowledge of plastics. It is a material with a balanced physical property profile, allowing for repeated use as a recycled material. Additionally, it has good fluidity and is easy to mold into various shapes. On the downside, it is susceptible to organic solvents, and in injection molding, weld lines are likely to occur. [Advantages] ■ Excellent mechanical properties and impact resistance among general-purpose plastics ■ Easy to paint or chrome plate, making it suitable for exterior parts ■ Good fluidity, making it easy to mold into various shapes ■ Low molding shrinkage rate, providing excellent dimensional stability during molding ■ Due to its ease of molding, there are many grades available that enhance strength and heat resistance ■ Can be reused repeatedly as a recycled material *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Basic Knowledge of Plastic: What is ABS?

Synthetic resin made by mixing three chemical substances! It began with commercialization in 1954.

ABS is a synthetic resin made by mixing three chemical substances: acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene, which are represented by the initials of these three chemicals. Its history dates back to 1954 when it was commercialized by the American company US Rubber. The manufacturing methods include a graft method where styrene and acrylonitrile are copolymerized in the presence of polybutadiene, and a blend method where an acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer is blended with a styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer. 【Features】 ■ Mixture of three chemical substances: acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene ■ Originated in 1954 when it was commercialized by the American company US Rubber ■ Manufacturing methods: graft type, blend type *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Resin Nazenaze Series] Regarding Yellowing in Dark Places

The color changes in the dark! Here’s an introduction to why it takes on a yellowish hue even though it’s unopened.

Dark storage yellowing refers to the discoloration that occurs when using ABS that has been stored unopened for a long time. When comparing ABS colored products produced immediately after manufacturing with those that have been stored unopened for two years, the white ones showed a yellowish discoloration after two years. This phenomenon was also observed in other colored products, such as light blue. In relation to this phenomenon, we suggest that colored materials be used as soon as possible and that long-term storage be avoided. **Causes of Dark Storage Yellowing** - The B (butadiene rubber) in ABS deteriorates and discolors to yellow over time. - Additives contained in ABS (antioxidants, flame retardants) can cause the material to undergo chemical changes and yellow when stored in the dark for extended periods. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*
